House rules for using the porch

What you may do, which is nearly everything

Every pattern on StitchMood is free to read and free to make, for good. Work it for yourself, for a present, for a charity blanket, for a table at the village fair. The square or blanket or bag that comes off your own hook is yours — keep it, give it, sell it. You do not need to ask, and you owe the porch nothing.

A line saying “pattern from StitchMood” when you post a photograph or sell a piece is a kindness that helps another maker find the porch. It is appreciated and it is not a condition.

What stays on the porch

The written rounds, the notes between them, the photographs and the way each page is laid out are the work that keeps the porch open. Please do not:

• copy the pattern text onto another site, forum, app or social account, whole or in part;
• bundle it into a file, booklet, course or anything sold;
• translate and republish it without writing first — write, and the answer is usually yes;
• reuse the photographs, including cropped, filtered or re-coloured versions.

A link is always welcome and never needs permission. A link keeps the pattern free for the next maker; a copy quietly stops that.

A pattern is a record, not a guarantee

Marlene works every pattern in full before it goes up and counts every round, but your yarn, your hook, your tension and your evening all change what comes off the hook. Counts and finished sizes are an honest account of the sample that was made, not a specification. Everything here is offered as it is, without warranty, and no promise is made that a pattern behaves identically in every fibre.

Using the site politely

Read, tick off rounds, print a pattern for your own table, come back whenever you like. Please do not scrape the whole site, point automated tools at it, or lean on the porch-letter form. A bot that hammers the sign-up endpoint gets blocked, which is the one moment a network address is ever used for anything.

Nothing here is for sale

There is no shop, no paid tier, no membership and nothing to download. If that ever changes, every pattern already published stays free. The site may one day carry affiliate links or quiet advertising; if it does, the affiliate disclosure says so, and a pattern's wording never changes because of it.

Leaving the porch

Now and then a page points somewhere else — a yarn mill, a technique somebody else explains better. Once you have followed such a link you are on their porch, under their rules and their privacy practices, and StitchMood cannot answer for them.

When these rules change

They may be tidied or added to. The date at the top of the page moves when that happens, and carrying on using the site means the current version is the one that applies.
